Francesco Tomasinelli

Sono sempre stato appassionato del mondo naturale. Ho cominciato a tre anni con i dinosauri, poi sono passato agli insetti, agli altri animali, alle piante e non ha più smesso. Mi sono laureato in Scienze Ambientali e, grazie al mio lavoro di biologo e foto-giornalista, ho avuta la fortuna di visitare luoghi meravigliosi in mezzo mondo, soprattutto per conto di Rivista della Natura, Focus e Touring. Oggi lavoro come divulgatore, fotografo e consulente in studi sulla biodiversità, i servizi ecosistemici e le opere di miglioramento ambientale con PN Studio, e come referente per la comunicazione di alcuni progetti LIFE per Triton Research.
Raccontare la Natura, però, è sempre una parte importante del mio lavoro: sono spesso ospite della trasmissione GEO di Rai3, ho scritto una ventina di libri sulla natura e le scienze, anche per ragazzi, e progettato mostre per musei di scienze naturali, che sono sempre in tour in Italia. Assieme ad un caro amico, il comico Antonio Ornano ho sviluppato un format di divulgazione scientifica che è stato portato in teatri, musei e festival in tutta Italia. Continuo a fare attività di formazione sulla fotografia e la comunicazione delle scienze naturali, soprattutto per l’Associazione Radiceunopercento, l’Università di Pavia, Genova e dell’Insubria.

ENGLISH VERSION – A brief biography of Francesco Tomasinelli

have always been passionate about the natural world. My journey began at the age of three with dinosaurs, then expanded to insects, other animals, and plants—and it never stopped. I graduated in Environmental Sciences and, through my work as a biologist and photojournalist, I have had the privilege of visiting extraordinary places around the world, especially while collaborating with magazines such as Rivista della Natura, Focus, and Touring.
Today, I work as a science communicator, photographer, and consultant on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and environmental enhancement with PN Studio, as well as communication manager for several LIFE projects coordinated by Triton Research.
Sharing stories about nature remains a central part of my work: I am a regular guest on Rai3’s GEO program, have authored around twenty books on nature and science —including several for children—and have designed exhibitions for natural science museums that are continuously on display throughout Italy. Together with my close friend, comedian Antonio Ornano, I created a scientific show format that has toured theaters, museums, and festivals nationwide. I also lead training courses on photography and science communication, particularly for the Radiceunopercento Association and the Universities of Genoa, Pavia, and Insubria.
