Tarantula invasion

During spring in Texas and most Southern United States, male tarantulas leave their burrow to mate with females (genus Aphonopelma, various species). They roam everywhere searching for partners and become quite obvious to humans, because of their big size. In some area males and females walking in the open can be very common, leading to small accidents. These spiders are impressive but are not aggressive and their bite is not dangerous, usually less painful than a bee sting.
