Idolomantis diabolica is a big preying mantis, reaching 12 cm in body lenght and living in forest in Kenya and Tanzania. It ambushes flying insects, like flies and butterflies, camouflaged between the vegetation. But if something dangerous comes too close the mantis suddenly spreads its arms doubling his size and exposing vivid, threatening colours. To make things worst it can produce special sounds rasping her wings and moving here body from side to side. That's one of the most impressive threat display in the animal world, that gave this mantis its common name: the devil's flower. 
Despite the impressive behaviour this insect is harmless to big animals, and the display is really a bluff. Juveniles of Idolomantis diabolica mimic dangerous ants in the first weeks of their life and later turn very similar to dead leaves.
